Muppies Toronto is proud to present its 4th Annual Women's Leadership Development Forum on April 14, 2016. An interactive platform featuring women's views and voices on leadership goals, business intelligence and interpersonal growth.


Speakers this year will include:

Dr. Hind Al-Abadleh:

Dr. Hind Al-Abadleh is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON. She obtained her BSc in Chemistry with honors from the United Arab Emirates University, PhD (Best dissertation award) from the University of Iowa, and postdoc at Northwestern University. Since joining Laurier as the first female faculty in 2005, she demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities as an award-winning scientist, mentor and role model for female academics and students in the physical sciences. Hind is also a Board Member of NanoOntario, an Elected Member of the Executives for the Environment Division of the Chemical Institute of Canada, and a Founding Member of Laurier's Centre for Women in Science where she served as Associate Director (2012-2015). Hind's community outreach activities not only include articles published at iqra.ca, invited lectures to youth and seniors, but also interfaith panels aimed at increasing awareness of the science behind environmental problems and the responsibility of citizens and Muslims in particular in addressing these challenges.

Luma Badran:

Luma is a Partner in Deloitte's Enterprise Risk Services (ERS) practice and is the National Lead of ERS diversity and inclusion. Luma has 20 years of global experience leading complex business transformations, and delivering strategic changes in dynamic, global and complex environments. Luma holds a degree in computer science from University of Jordan and is a certified information architect. In her role as the National Lead of Deloitte's ERS diversity and inclusion, she is committed to promoting an inclusive environment and helping our current and future leaders manage their conscious and unconscious biases.

Dr. Fariha Khan:

Dr Fariha Khan is a physician based out of Brampton, Ontario. She has been an active member of the Muslim community and has served as a board of director for numerous community organizations. She completed her medical degree from McMaster University in 2004 with a practice focus on children's health. She has a special interest in International Health and Medical Education. She currently serves as a director with Islamic Relief Canada.

Nuzhat Jafri

Nuzhat has wide leadership experience in public, private and non-profit sectors. She is personally committed to diversity, inclusion and human rights. She has been a long-serving member of the national board of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW), where she initiated the Women Who Inspire Awards and played a pivotal role in the "no-religious arbitration in family law" campaign. In the community she has served as chair and member of several non-profit boards, including the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, Accessible Community Counselling and Employment Services (ACCES) and South Asian Family Support Services. She is currently the Executive Director of the Office of the Fairness Commissioner, an arm's-length agency of the Ontario government, established under the Fair Access to Regulated Professions and Trades Act, 2006. Nuzhat holds a BA in French language and literature from the University of Toronto and a Master's from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Western Ontario.
